Like Boy Scouts for Adults

Recently I have started offering a series of classes here in Charlottesville, Virginia that will cover the same sort of subjects that the Boy Scouts traditionally teach, only what I am doing is focused on adults. If you missed out on summer camp and Scouting as a kid and want to learn some basic outdoor skills, with an emphasis on wild food, this is for you.

Last weekend we had our first 'Fishing 101' class. This coming weekend I'm offering basic instruction with .22 rifles at 12:30 pm on Saturday, August 18th. At 6 pm we'll be learning how to fish for catfish. All materials are supplied for bother classes, enrollment is very limited, and the cost is $35 per person for each.

The long-term goal is to create a community of local-food-oriented men and women in Charlottesville and Albemarle County who are capable, self-sufficient hunters and fishermen. A year from now I don't even want to be necessary.

This is a little different from the deer classes that I have been teaching for years. This is designed for locals, with no frills and lower cost.

If anyone local is interested, please send me an email at jack.landers@gmail.com for more details. Outings for visitors from out of the area may also be arranged by request.
